# Join an event

> Accept an invitation or register from the event page, sign in with an email code, and get to the event home.

You join an Umoh event in your browser. There is nothing to install. Depending on how the host set up the event, you start from an invitation email or from the event page link.

<Note>
  You need the email address the host has for you. Invitations are tied to that
  address, and the sign-in code is sent there.
</Note>

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open the event">
    <Tabs>
      <Tab title="From an invitation email">
        Open the link in the email and select **Accept invitation**. A code is sent to the invited address. You can also select **Decline**. The host sees that you declined, and you can still accept later from the same page.
      </Tab>

      <Tab title="From the event page">
        Enter your email address and select **Continue**. If you're new to the event and registration is open, select **Register** below the form instead.
      </Tab>
    </Tabs>
  </Step>

  <Step title="Enter the code">
    Type the 6-digit code from the email. It's checked as soon as you enter the last digit. If it doesn't arrive, select **Resend code** after the 60-second wait. A new code replaces the previous one.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Register or agree to the terms">
    Invited participants only review the terms and select **Agree and join**.

    If you registered from the event page, complete the three steps:

    * **Type**: choose your participant type. If there is only one, it's selected for you.
    * **Details**: enter your name. A photo is optional, and the other fields depend on your participant type.
    * **Consent**: agree to the items marked **\[Required]** and select **Register**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Check your status">
    * **You're in** takes you to the event home.
    * **Awaiting approval** means the host reviews registrations first. Complete your profile in the meantime. You get an email once you're approved.
    * **You can't join this event** means the host didn't approve your registration. Contact the host if you think this is a mistake.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## Your first visit

The event home shows your name and participant type at the top, with the **Participants**, **Meetings**, **Messages**, and **My schedule** tabs. Events without meetings show only Home, Participants, and Messages. Two things are worth doing right away:

* **Availability**: by default you're available for all meeting hours. Open **Availability** from the account menu to block dates or set specific time ranges.
* **Profile**: complete the required fields so other participants can find you. Open **Edit profile** from the home screen.

## Next steps

* Browse **Participants** and send a meeting request.
* Review **Email notifications** in the account menu.
