# Publish your first event

> Create an event in the Umoh host console, set participant types, add participants, publish the event page, and send invitations.

This guide takes a new event from sign-in to the first invitation email. It uses the defaults wherever possible, so you can refine settings later.

<Note>
  Signing in needs only an email address. The person who creates the
  organization becomes its admin, and only admins can add a payment method,
  which is required before publishing.
</Note>

<Steps>
  <Step title="Sign in and create your organization">
    Open [console.umoh.io](https://console.umoh.io), enter your email, and select **Continue**. Type the 6-digit code from the email, or select **Continue with Google** instead.

    On a new account, the console asks you to **Create an organization**. Enter the **Organization name** and select **Get started**. An organization is the workspace your team shares across events.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Create the event">
    In **Events**, select **Create event** and fill in the **Event name**, **Date and time**, and **Time zone**. **Venue** is optional. Select **Create**.

    The event opens on its overview with a **Getting started** checklist. The event stays a **Draft** until you publish it, so nothing is visible to participants yet.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Add participant types">
    Go to **Event settings** and open the **Participant types** tab. Select **Add participant type** for each group at your event, such as Buyer and Seller.

    One participant type is enough to publish. Rules between types and profile fields such as Company and Job title can be added later.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Decide how people get in">
    Open the **Registration** tab. **Access** is set to **Invite list only**, which means only people you add can enter. Switch to **Public link** to let anyone with the link register, and turn on **Require approval** to review those registrations first.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Add participants">
    In **Participants**, select **Add participant** and enter the participant type, name, and email. For a list, select **Import**, download the template, upload your CSV or Excel file, and map the **Name** and **Email** columns.

    Participants you add or import are approved automatically. If the event uses a public link, you can skip this step and let people register themselves.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Publish">
    Open **Publishing**. Under **Event page**, enter the **Site address** and select **Save changes**. The address becomes the event page URL, ending in `.umoh.events`, and is locked while the event is published.

    The **Before you publish** list shows four items: **Basic info**, **Participant types**, **Site address**, and **Payment method**. The payment method is added once per organization by an admin, who first chooses the billing currency (KRW or USD) and then saves a card through Stripe.

    Select **Publish event**. The first time, the **Choose a plan** dialog opens. **Chat** gives participants the participant list, 1:1 messages, and announcements. **Meet & AI** adds 1:1 meetings. Once an event is published on Meet & AI, it can't go back to Chat. Confirm with **Publish event**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Send invitations">
    In **Participants**, open the **Invitations** tab and select **Send invitations**. **Send to** defaults to **Not yet invited**. The dialog shows how many people will receive the email and who is excluded, then select **Send**.

    Each recipient gets an email with a link to enter the event page. Participants who register through a public link enter on their own and don't need an invitation.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## Check the result

The overview now shows the event page link with a copy button, plus **Registered** and **Entered** counts. In **Invitations**, the batch moves from **Sending** to **Completed**, and each recipient shows **Entered** once they sign in.

## Next steps

* **Meetings** (Meet & AI): set **Meeting rules**, **Meeting locations**, and **Meeting hours** in **Event settings**, then follow requests and the schedule under **Meetings**.
* **Event page**: add a cover image, an introduction, and a support email in **Basic info**.
* **Announcements**: email all approved participants from **Announcements**.
* **Members**: invite teammates from **Members**. Only admins can invite members.
* **Billing**: after the first publish, **Billing** lists each monthly invoice. The first 30 entered participants each month are free.

## Troubleshooting

<AccordionGroup>
  <Accordion title="Publish event is disabled">
    One of the four items in **Before you publish** is still open. If you
    changed the site address, save it first. If the event date has already
    passed, change **Date and time** in **Basic info**.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Ask an admin to add a payment method">
    Members can't add payment methods. An admin adds one from the **Payment
    method** row or from the organization **Settings**.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="No one can register through the link">
    The event uses a public link, but no participant type is open for
    self-registration. In **Participant types**, turn on **Selectable at
    registration** for at least one type.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Send invitations is disabled">
    Invitations go out only from a published event, and not while a previous
    batch is still sending. People invited in the last 12 hours and people who
    unsubscribed are excluded from a batch.
