# Plans: Chat and Meet & AI

> What Chat and Meet & AI include, when the plan is chosen and locked, what upgrading changes in the console, and how cost and the page end relate.

Every event runs on one of two plans. **Chat** gives participants the participant list, 1:1 messages, and announcements. **Meet & AI** adds 1:1 meetings. New events start on Chat, and the plan is confirmed the first time you publish. Rates are on the [pricing page](https://umoh.io/pricing).

## What each plan includes

| Plan | As the console describes it |
| - | - |
| **Chat** | **Participant list, 1:1 messages, and announcements** |
| **Meet & AI** | **Chat, plus 1:1 meetings** |

These surfaces depend on the plan:

| Surface | On Meet & AI | On Chat |
| - | - | - |
| **Meetings** menu | **List** and **Schedule** tabs | The menu stays, but the page reads **Meetings are part of the Meet & AI plan** with an **Upgrade to Meet & AI** button |
| **Event settings** | **Meeting rules** and **Meeting locations** tabs, the meeting request rule between participant types, and **Meeting reminder** in **Notifications** | Hidden. Values saved before switching are kept and come back on upgrade |
| **Getting started** checklist | An optional **Meeting locations** step | Five steps |
| Overview | **Confirmed meetings**, meetings by hour, and the page end time | Hidden |
| **Reports** | Meeting figures | Page views only |
| Participant details | **Meetings** tab | Hidden |

## When the plan is chosen and locked

| Event state | Where | What you can do |
| - | - | - |
| Draft, never published | The plan card above **Getting started**, with **Change plan** | Switch either way. An event that already has meetings shows **An event with meetings can't switch to Chat.** and keeps Chat disabled. |
| First publish | **Publish event** opens **Choose a plan**, and the same button confirms | Choose either plan. On Meet & AI the dialog notes **After publishing, you can't switch back to Chat.** |
| Published on Chat | **Upgrade to Meet & AI** next to the page link on the overview, and in the **Meetings** menu | Upgrade only |
| Published on Meet & AI | Plan status only | Nothing to change |
| Page ended | Plan status only | Locked. The dialog reads **The event page has ended, so the plan can't be changed.** |

Unpublishing doesn't unlock the plan. Once an event has been published, the Chat option reads **Once published, an event can't switch back to Chat.**

## Upgrading

The upgrade dialog replaces the cost note with **Participants who have already entered are also billed at the Meet & AI rate. You can't switch back to Chat.** and confirms with **Upgrade**. If the new page end crosses into another billing period, a warning says entered participants are billed for another month.

After the upgrade, **Meetings** shows the **List** and **Schedule** tabs, **Event settings** gains **Meeting rules** and **Meeting locations**, and the overview adds **Confirmed meetings** and the page end time. Set up [meeting rules](/host/settings/meeting-rules) and [meeting locations](/host/settings/meeting-locations) next.

## Cost and the page end

The plan dialog carries one cost note: the first 30 entered participants each month are free, and each plan's rate applies from participant 31. Billing runs in monthly periods from the publish date until the event page ends. When more than one period is expected, the first-publish dialog shows how many and notes that participants who have already entered are counted again in each period.

On Chat the page ends with the event. On Meet & AI it ends at the later of the event end and the end of the last **Meeting hours**, so extending meeting hours can add a billing period. The overview shows the page end time next to the plan status. See [Event lifecycle](/host/concepts/event-lifecycle) and [Billing](/host/billing).
