# Billing

> Reference for the event Billing page: the next invoice, billing periods, billing history and invoice statuses, the Pay link, and changing the payment method.

An event's **Billing** page shows the upcoming invoice and every billing period so far. It appears in the event sidebar after the first publish and stays if you unpublish. Every member of the organization can open it; only admins change the payment method.

## Next invoice

| Item | What it shows |
| - | - |
| Amount | The current period's total so far, in your organization's billing currency. |
| **Participants** | How many participants count in the period, including the free ones. |
| **Billing date** | When the period ends, in the event time zone. The invoice is issued after this time. |
| Lines | One line for the free participants and one for each rate band, each with its amount. |

A participant counts in a period if they were approved and had entered at any point during it. The first 30 per period are free, and the plan rate applies from the 31st. The number can differ from **Entered** on the overview, which counts participants entered as of now. Rates are on the [pricing page](https://umoh.io/pricing). The block goes away once the last period is invoiced.

## Billing periods

* The first period starts when the event is first published.
* A period ends at 0:00 in the event time zone, one month after the publish date, then two months, and so on.
* The last period ends at the page end, so it can be shorter than a month. On Meet & AI the page stays open until the last meeting hours end; see [Event lifecycle](/host/concepts/event-lifecycle).
* Unpublishing doesn't end a period. Billing continues until the page end.
* A change that moves the page end past a period boundary, such as extending meeting hours, warns before saving that entered participants are billed for another month.

## Billing history

Each ended period is a row, newest first.

| Column | What it shows |
| - | - |
| **Period** | The first and last day of the period. |
| **Amount** | The invoiced total, in your organization's billing currency. |
| **Status** | One of the invoice statuses below. **Paid** rows also show the payment date. |
| **Participants** | The number of participants counted in the period. |
| **Pay** | A link to the invoice, on rows that need payment. |

The status and **Pay** columns appear only when a row needs them. A period with an amount of 0 has no status and no **Pay** link.

| Status | Meaning |
| - | - |
| **Invoice pending** | The period has ended and the invoice is being prepared. |
| **Scheduled** | The invoice is issued and will be charged to the payment method. |
| **Paid** | Charged. The date appears under the chip. |
| **Failed** | The charge didn't go through. |
| **Action required** | The card needs authentication before the charge completes. |
| **Void** | The invoice was canceled. |
| **Unpaid** | The invoice is past due and hasn't been collected. |
| **Unknown** | The status couldn't be read. Check again later. |

## Paying an invoice

**Pay** appears on **Failed**, **Action required**, and **Unpaid** rows when the invoice has a payment link. It opens the invoice in a new tab, where you pay by card. Every member sees the link, because payment emails go only to the admin who last saved the card.

**Change payment method** appears next to the **Billing history** heading for admins while such a row exists. It opens the organization **Settings**, where **Change** saves a new card, and unpaid invoices are charged to the new card right away. The card on file is shown next to the heading with its expiry, in red once expired. See [Add a payment method](/host/publishing/payment-method).

## On the overview

While a period is **Failed**, **Action required**, or **Unpaid**, **Needs attention** on the event overview shows how many payments are due, and **Review** opens this page.
